Tim McMahon Jr. is the Principal and Founder of MCM Social Media – a creative social media and professional speaking firm in Merrimack, NH. Since 2008, Tim has spoken to thousands of students and worldwide organizations about both the power of social media applications like Facebook as well as the dangers faced by youth misusing the tools.

In Tim’s highly-touted program for middle and high school students, Never Poke a Polar Bear, Tim challenges his audience to be leaders in the fight against cyber-bullying.   By integrating a multidimensional, multimedia approach, Tim illustrates for students how social media and other internet tools can be used to create positive change.

While Tim strives to ensure that every student understands the inherent dangers that exist through social media, text messaging, and other online resources, his ultimate goal is to motivate ALL students to be part of the solution.  Too often, students who don’t fall into the category of having been bullied or being the bullies themselves are content to ignore the problems around them.  Oftentimes its because they either believe its truly “not their problem” or more often its because they don’t want to risk becoming a victim by standing up for someone else.

Throughout the presentation, he makes reference to an Alaskan and Inuit symbol of bravery and  leadership – the Polar Bear.  Tim’s goal is to create communities of Polar Bears who are not pushed around (or poked) by bullies – and who stand in their way regardless of who the victim might be.
